Sport and Active Recreation Planning
We provide expert guidance on designing and optimising facilities and developing engaging community programs. Our consultants specialise in developing sport and active recreation plans and strategies for local government and sporting organisations that provide solutions to increase participation and promoting active lifestyles.
Key projects:
Netball Victoria Statewide Facilities Strategy
Netball Victoria’s Statewide Facilities Strategy 2026-2028 supports the sustainable provision, development and capacity building of competition courts across the state.
To develop the Strategy indoor and outdoor courts used for structured competition were audited and the results used to drive key infrastructure needs and priorities. Netball affiliates and local government stakeholders were also engaged in the development stages.
A Facilities Framework was developed with Strategic Facility Objectives under each of the Strategic Pillars of Play, Growth, Inspire and Lead.
Phase 1 of the Strategy focuses on understanding current provision, gaps and future needs of competition courts within affiliated competitions across Victoria, with phase 2 (training and school courts) and phase 3 (public playing spaces) to follow.
Active Warrnambool Strategy
The Active Warrnambool Strategy provides Warrnambool City Council with an evidence-based framework to guide planning, provision and management of sport and active recreation opportunities for the period 2025-2035.
The Strategy sets the direction for how Warrnambool will grow as a more active, liveable and resilient city. It brings together planning for sport, recreation, open space and active lifestyles into a coordinated approach that reflects Warrnambool’s unique coastal setting, community identity and future growth.
The Strategy builds on the achievements of the 2019 to 2030 strategy and was developed to understand current and future demand for sport and recreation and to determine future priorities to 2035.
Active Cardinia
The Active Cardinia Strategy provides a clear long-term framework to support healthy, active and connected communities across the municipality. It guides Council’s planning, investment and decision-making in sport, recreation and physical activity to ensure facilities, programs and open spaces respond to the needs of Cardinia’s growing and diverse population.
The strategy focuses on increasing participation, improving access to quality infrastructure, and creating welcoming, inclusive places that encourage people of all ages and abilities to be active. By aligning with broader health, wellbeing and planning priorities, the Active Cardinia Strategy helps build stronger communities and supports positive lifestyle outcomes for residents now and into the future.
Monash Active Recreation Opportunities Strategy
The Active Recreation Opportunities Strategy creates more opportunities for the residents of the City of Monash to be active ‘in their own way’.
We worked with the City of Monash to establish the Active Recreation Opportunities Strategy through a detailed needs analysis, community engagement and strategy development process.
The initial stage of this project included on-site auditing of the active recreation infrastructure in over 60 parks and reserves using our Sports Facility Auditor application.
The development of an Active Recreation Framework enabled us to plan for the future investment of $11.8 million into active recreation infrastructure in more than 30 sites across the City of Monash.
The network approach to planning for the future active recreation needs of the City of Monash ensures that all residents will have access to new opportunities to participate as the Strategy is implemented.
In addition to infrastructure recommendations, the Strategy recommends a series of programs and initiatives that support active recreation through increased promotion and improved partnerships with stakeholders and the community.
Glen Eira Active Recreation Action Plan
The Glen Eira Active Recreation Action Plan guides the future facilities, programs and initiatives that increase opportunities for active recreation across the City of Glen Eira.
The City has a range of well-developed parks and reserves that provide opportunities for active recreation, but further facility development and delivery of programs will contribute to creating a more active and healthy community.
The Active Recreation Action Plan establishes the strategic priorities for active recreation projects and focused on delivering the strategic priorities of the City of Glen Eira relating to health and physical activity.
